Third-grade Spencer-Westlawn Scholars have completed their first Project-Based Learning (PBL) of the year with Mrs. Knowles! Third-graders became experts on the Hazardous Storm, Hurricane Katrina. After identifying the root of the problem related to Hurricane Katrina, they were tasked to build a levee to withstand water. Students were given a budget and a list of materials they could buy. They had to decide on the materials to purchase collectively. Lastly, they built their levees and tested them against water. #TransformersStrongerTogether

Ms. Withers' Walk-to-Intervention group is working hard on mastering their high-frequency words! This week, the students focused on the word "their" and practiced using it correctly in sentences. After completion of sentence writing, Ms. Withers checked each sentence for grammar and gave feedback, and the students did an amazing job!

Ms. Colston's fifth-graders prepare for their major assessment through numerous explicit vocabulary lessons and open-ended question practice. Students use a vocabulary card pop game to determine which word fits best in the sentence. Ms. Colston later gives timed practice questions in a Schoology assignment for students to type their responses. This prep will surely lead to reading success! #TransformersStrongerTogether
