Fifth-grade students in Ms. Colston's reading class are learning the difference between fact and opinion in a complex text. Students turned to the anchor chart in their binders to review clue words. Graphic organizers were completed to reinforce the skill. Small groups were pulled to make sure students comprehended the complex text and used sticky notes to jot down important notes. #TransformersStrongerTogether

Ms. Withers' Walk-to-Intervention group is working hard on mastering their high-frequency words! This week, the students focused on the word "their" and practiced using it correctly in sentences. After completion of sentence writing, Ms. Withers checked each sentence for grammar and gave feedback, and the students did an amazing job!

Ms. Colston's fifth-graders prepare for their major assessment through numerous explicit vocabulary lessons and open-ended question practice. Students use a vocabulary card pop game to determine which word fits best in the sentence. Ms. Colston later gives timed practice questions in a Schoology assignment for students to type their responses. This prep will surely lead to reading success! #TransformersStrongerTogether
